1ª MOSTRA DE CONSTRUÇÕES LEGO DE AVELEDA - 15/16/17 JUNHO 2013
Some boy-scouts from the grupo I belong as a Chief of the boys between 11 and 14 years old requested me to make te arrangements for an exhibition in their town. The goal for this exhibition was to collect funds for th participation of the boys on a camping event in August because most of them don´t have economical possibilities to pay for the form to participate.
During the 3 days of the exhibition not only I had the oprtunity to meet my friends and also know a few mpore, mostly AFOL´s, but also I had the chance to organize my own collection because I was missing some parts. After the exhibition , my collection of LEGO is far more organized than it was before. |
Mesas em exposição - Layouts exhibited
Taj Mahal |
Aldeia Portuguesa / Portuguese Town |
Mesa Technic / Technic layout |

The main goal of this exhibition was not to make the preentation of new building or cnstructions but mainly make the presentation in a local town things that they have never imagined to be presented on an exhibition. Taj Mahl, even being a set, was really successfull as also my Portuguese Village where the visitors could find the Basic School, onde of the buildings of this town that was represented on LEGO®. The great novelty was the appearance of Sérgio, a PLÇUG member from Guimarães, who presented his Technic constructions, some of them for the first time and some thatwere even built on purpose for this exhibition as he told me.
|

One of my tasks during the exhibition was to present the Star Wars layout which in fact consisted ina collection of old sets and some new ones that I have on my own. This was good because I could realize that I have plenty of them and I could restore some of them partill or completely unmounted. But if the visitors would expect to see some novelties, then the right layout was the Belville and Scala, provided by Luciano Faustino. In my opinion, it was the biggest surprise of this exhibition with very rare sets with some parts that I´ve never thought that they existed. This layout was really cool not only for the AFOL´s but also for the little girls who visited the exhibition.

Mesa City - City Layout
Autores/Authors: Jorge Reis + Rui Lima

The City layout was one of the most visited, mainly because of the movement made by the trains running on the table. Durante the school visit, children were saying "Be,bye" each time the trains passes. The City was divided in 3 areas: the modern town, the historizal center and the farmers villages including an industrial zone. This last area was made with things provided by Rui LIma and the first 2 were things provided by Jorge Reis. Even the Boy Scout Chiefs had time to play a little bit making the corn fields...haha...

Comboios + cavaquinho

Diorama Castelo I
|
Diorama Castelo II
|
On the Train´s layout scheduled by Jorge Reis the visitors could see a collection of Portuguese train company replicas but aldo two very curious MOC´s: besides a piano player, there was also a traditional Braga Ukelkelé. This was particulary funny and very well built. Don´t think that this was the only way to see the trains because some of them were also spread on the City Layout. In fac, they were the major atraction for kids and older visitors (with more than 60 years old). This ones gave a new meaning to the sentence "Second shildhood" because they were reallly, really amazed by the exhibition and were the ones who were spending more time looking to all the details thy could find inside of it, even if Thems like "Star Wars" were not very known from them...
Jorge Reis also presented again his Castle Layout based on the novel "Pillars of the Earth" but this time we had to divide the layuot in 2 tables because there was not enough room on each of them. This was in fact very good because it was easier to see all the details inside of it. |

Being in the surroundings of the City of Braga, inside one of the places were Braga has more supporters, it was obvious that I should present this Layout there. This Layout was in fact visited by one of the most passionate supporters Braga ever had, a guy know as "Zé Pequeno de Aveleda" (Little Joseph from Aveleda). This is one of the characters that I must put inside the Layout for sure when I found a way to do so (anyone knows how to make a fat guy in minifigure scale?). Lastly, I must talk about my daugthers layout of Friends Theme where, to fill an empty room, I´ve put a MOC of the Aveleda main Church, built on purpose for this exhibition located just about 100 meters from the original building.
